Mayor-elect Fasbender thanks citizens, looks to future

As your Mayor-elect, I want to thank everyone in Hastings for getting out to vote during last week’s election. I am quite proud to be part of a community that places such importance on voting and striving to keep Hastings a great place to live. My heartfelt congratulations to Council Members Lori Braucks and Mark Vaughan for their wins, and sincere appreciation to Danna Elling-Schultz and Tom Cherney for their passion and perspectives in this election.

I also want to publicly acknowledge those who supported me over the past year, not just at the polls. It is hard to express how much this means to me - whether you helped me door knock, attended campaign events, donated, marched in the Rivertown Days parade, offered words of encouragement, or simply voted for me in the primary and general election - I will never forget this experience.

When I take office on January 7, I pledge to work hard every day as Mayor of Hastings - but I can’t do this alone, nor would you expect me to. My time as your Mayor will focus on involving residents, business owners, visitors, developers, and anyone else who has a role to play in our community and wants Hastings to succeed. Everyone will be invited to the table.

I can’t wait to get started and help give Hastings a fresh start in the new year. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me with your ideas, questions, concerns and thoughts. My email address is:

With thanks and love for Hastings,

Mary D. Fasbender
